Minnow Media, LLC is a full-service multimedia production company based in North Carolina. We seek documentary projects based on two goals:

1. To preserve the voices
and stories of individuals, communities, sites, and events
that are on the verge of
of dramatic change or silence; and,

2. To enrich public discussion around issues of individual growth and social transformation.

We also assist companies, schools and other organizations in communications planning, training videos, image pieces, recruitment videos, public service announcements, and more. Call or e-mail us. We'll be happy to talk to you about your project and how to work within your budget.

“The moral life of a community is determined, in part, by the images available to it for the formation of the imagination by which it lives. Artists and what we now call 'the media' are primary providers of those images in the contemporary world. The vocation of the artist in whatever medium is to reveal the truth of the human condition and to enlarge our imagination of life, through the exploration of the beautiful and the sublime, the ordinary and the degraded.”

Minnow Seeks Stories of NC Giving

Minnow Media is just getting started on a new video project that will result in a one-hour public TV broadcast and a series of short training/discussion videos on the issue of philanthropy as it is practiced by women, youth, and persons of color in North Carolina.

Now in the research phase of the project, we are eager to find stories of individuals, small groups, and communities that are engaged in philanthropy, which we are defining most broadly as the contribution of time, talent, and treasure to others.  We also seek a few "experts" (historians, sociologists, etc. from various cultural backgrounds) who can speak to what their culture practices and teaches about philanthropy.

We hope the stories we find in communities all across the state will lift up the ways in which NC philanthropy reflects our differences across cultures and experiences and will thus provide a broader lens on the practice of giving. We are looking for stories from among all the cultures of people of color that are represented in North Carolina these days --  Native American, Latino/Hispanic, Asian, African American, and others.  We also want to hear about  innovative projects that are being spawned by groups of women and youth. We want to lift up and celebrate all the ways that NC gives. Our ambition is to cover every region of the state.

WhyNots Softball Team Goes for Gold
... and Minnow Media Follows

The WhyNots are a women's softball team with players ranging in age from 55 to 76. It's been nearly 30 years since these women from Burlington, NC, won more than 25 major tournaments including a National Championship in 1980. Now they're back on the field and heading to the National Senior Olympic Games in San Francisco in 2009 after finishing 4th in the nation in Louisville, Kentucky, in June, 2007. In conjunction with Elon University, Minnow Media is creating a half-hour documentary that follows the WhyNots as they strive to earn the gold medal after winning the North Carolina Senior Games for two years straight. Filming for the documentary began in the summer of 2006. For more information, contact Donna Campbell.
