This video is the first in a three-part series documenting the history of the Episcopal Church in North Carolina, commissioned by the School of Ministry of the Episcopal Diocese in NC. The colonial history of the establishment of The Episcopal Church in North Carolina is explored through interviews with historians,
re-enactments and commentary from North Carolina Bishop Michael Curry and the Bishop of East Carolina, Clifton Daniel III.

The roots of the church's diversity are sown with the first baptisms of Manteo and Virginia Dare (pictured right), while the struggles to establish the church are told through the stories of Charles Pettigrew (pictured below), Clement Hall, and others.

The 25-minute video was produced by Minnow Media and was funded by a generous grant from the Jessie Ball duPont Fund. A facilitator's guide is available from the School of Ministry, where you can also request a DVD.

Plans are under way for the second part of the series, which will tell the story of the church from the early 1800s through Reconstruction.
